BAGAIA is the only Regional Accident Investigation Organisation (RAIO) in Africa and is based in Cape Verde
The objective of the mission was to assist Namibia to prepare for the ICAO audit which was scheduled for 6-15 March 2024 and enhance its level of effective implementation which currently stands at 57.39%. The activities included providing support in the finalization of regulations, development of guidance materials and inspector procedure manuals, completion of the compliance checklists and preparation of evidence files to answer the Protocol Questions for all the 8 audit areas.
Namibia is considering inviting SASO to observe the actual audit and to provide on-site support. SASO is committed to assisting all SADC States to meet their safety oversight obligations and to improve the level of aviation safety in the region.
