The SASO Generic Regulations Rollout workshop was held in Mbabane, Eswatini, at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, from the 12^th to the 14^th July 2023.
On the 2^nd of May 2023, DRC became the 12^th signatory to the SASO Charter. This is a milestone as it marks transition from interim status to full status of the SASO.
The ICAO 41^st Assembly was held in Montreal, Canada, from 27th September 2022 to the 7th October 2022. SASO was registered and recognised as one of the international organisations at this session.
In its quest for capacity building in the SADC region, the SADC Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO) sent ten (10) National Safety Inspectors, from the various aviation domains, to attend an ICAO Training Instructors Course (TIC-2)
On the 5th July 2022, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania became the 10th member to sign the SADC Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO) Charter

Interim SASO

To expedite the launching of SADC Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO), at their meeting in October 2013, SADC Ministers of Transport and Meteorology approved establishing an INTERIM SASO SECRETARIAT until the SADC Council of Ministers approves the SASO Charter, outlining the legal and institutional framework for SASO.
