In order to facilitate domestication of SADC Generic Regulations (SGRs) and SADC Generic Procedures (SGPs), the Flight Safety Working Group (FSWG) was established. FSWG membership consists of representatives from Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) of SADC Member States. These members are from the flight operations, airworthiness and legal specialities of participating Member State CAAs.
The function of the FSWG include:
- Review and comment on the SGRs and SGPs;
- Approve the documents for recommendation to the SADC Civil Aviation Committee (CAC); and
- Domesticate the SGRs and SGPs into national regulations and technical procedures of the participating Member States, thereby achieving a basic degree of regional regulatory and procedural harmonisation.
The Executive Director (ED) of the SASO coordinates the work of Technical Committees and any Working Groups established by the SASO.
