The SASO Civil Aviation Committee Meeting was held on 2nd and 3rd October 2024, at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, in Mbabane, Eswatini.
A memorandum of cooperation between the SADC Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO) and the Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency (BAGAIA) was signed at the 9th AFI Week held on the 15th to 19th July 2024 in Libreville, Gabon.
The Aviation System Block Upgrade (ASBU) Fundamentals Workshop was held on the 15th to the 17th May 2024, at the Mountain View, in Mbabane, Eswatini.
SASO assistance team conducted a technical assistance mission to the Republic of Namibia from the 15th to the 26th January 2024.

SADC Member States are expected by the international aviation community to implement the eight critical elements essential for an effective safety oversight system according to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
To expedite the launching of SADC Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO), at their meeting in October 2013, SADC Ministers of Transport and Meteorology approved establishing an INTERIM SASO SECRETARIAT until the SADC Council of Ministers approves the SASO Charter, outlining the legal and institutional framework for SASO.
